Mountain Resort Communities
Montañas de Caldera The developer, Mr John Richardson, chose this magnificent site just 28 km from David and 12 km south of Boquete for the panoramic views of the Cordillera Central and the Chorcha Plateau and for the delightful, mild, less humid microclimate. He also realized that the abundance of water from the natural springs within the 176 hectares of the Montañas de Caldera site means that water supply will never be a problem. The philosophy behind the Montañas de Caldera project is to provide elegant, comfortable and sensationally designed homes in a park-like setting. Landscapers have been hard at work in the gardens. The main front entrance gate with its two waterfalls is already blooming with flowers, as are the plantings along the front dry-stone wall. Work continues on schedule in the seven theme gardens. The Orchid Garden is becoming a popular site for visitors, offering a dappled, green respite from the midday sun and a great spot for bird-watching and a few moments peace! In the Tropical Garden the heliconas, red gingers, bamboos and other flowers are maturing rapidly and plantings are underway in the Coffee Garden. Work will start shortly on the Harmony Garden, Tea-time Garden, Enchanted Garden, Royal Garden and Botanical Garden. In addition, 5,000 indigenous trees have been added to the Gallery Forest along the Caldera River. Richardson and his "right hand", daughter Jane, are now working with internationally-trained architects to finalize the last details of a European-style Town Plaza and Clubhouse, including shops, restaurants, beauty parlor, ATM machine, library and conference facilities, and a fitness center with three swimming pools, a whirlpool, sauna, Turkish bath and health bar. They are also negotiating with major hotel chains for bids to oversee the development of their five-star hotel and health spa. "We are determined that the successful contractor will bear in mind the Montañas de Caldera "mantra a pathway to a new lifestyle" and will develop in accordance with their concepts of environmentally-harmonious and sophisticated design", says Jane. Montañas de Caldera offers six styles of villa and one or two-level town houses. Lots are between 1,500 m2 ( 16,140 sq. feet) and 5,000 m2 (53,800 sq. feet) with prices starting at $20 per m2. This includes topsoil, grass seeding, five indigenous trees and 100 plants per site. Townhouses, the most economical option, can be purchased from $145,000, for a limited time, including lot and house.
