Palace of the Herrons

Palacio de las Garzas (Palace of the Herons) is Panama´s presidencial palace so called because herons were brought in 1922 by  President Belisario Porras to adorn the Andalusian-style interior courtyard.  Some of its famous rooms are the Yellow Room where most formal events are held and the Moorish room.  The president no longer keeps it as his residence but it still serves as his main office.  Tours can be arranged from Tuesday to Friday at 9 am through the Department of Guides at the Palace.
